ICSI Treatment Mumbai
ICSI is a treatment option for slightly senior and older women or women who have had ovarian failure,or diseased ovaries. Fresh eggs will be required for donor eggs, since it is not possible to freeze donor eggs. Usually it is preferred that you bring you own egg donor, but in case you cannot do so we provide you with the same.
About ICSI Treatment
ICSI is done in addition to the IVF treatment procedure to remove several oocytes from a woman.
This procedure is done under a microscope using multiple micro-devices to extract the Oocytes. A holding pipette controls the mature oocyte using suction from the microinjector. Then from the other side a thin micropipette collects a single sperm which is immobilised removing its tail with the micropipette. The oocyte is then entered through oolemma, into the inner part of the oocyte. The sperm is theninjected into the oocyte. The body is positioned at the 12 or 6 o’clock position, to ensure that the inserted micropipette does not disrupt the spindle inside the egg. After the procedure, the oocyte will be placed into cell culture and checked on the following day for signs of fertilization.
In contrast, in natural fertilization sperm compete and when the first sperm penetrates the oolemma, the oolemma hardens to block the entry of any other sperm. Concern has been raised that in ICSI this sperm selection process is bypassed and the sperm is selected by the embryologist without any specific testing. ‘Washed’ or ‘unwashed’ sperm may be used in the process.
